Spraytec NSS nasal spray system provides users with the ability to fully characterize the output of nasal pump sprays, offering a route to meeting the US FDA’s recommendations for nasal spray testing. In addition, the system can be used to understand the overall performance characteristics of a given pump and formulation, allowing users to determine how the delivered droplet size varies according to the applied actuation profile.

Accurate Actuation Control:
The NSS can be used with either the InnovaSystems NSP3000 force-control actuator or the Proveris Scientific NSx velocity-control actuator, enabling accurate specification of the actuation profile applied to a given pump during testing. This eliminates the user bias associated with the use of manual actuation.

Orientation control:
The NSS mount allows users to position the nasal pump accurately relative to the laser diffraction measurements zone, providing control of both the distance and angle at which measurements are made.

Position Validation:
The position and angle of actuation are automatically logged within the Spraytec software. This ensures that measurements can only be made if nasal pump is in the correct position, improving the overall droplet size measurement reproducibility.

The actuator systems used within the NSS accessory can easily be removed and used for testing other characteristics of the pump’s performance, for instance shot-weight or plume geometry measurements. This ensures that a consistence set of actuation conditions are used for all of the tests recommended by the FDA.
